A strong proposition, but one major issue
The client, a leading brand retailer, had a need for a property lawyer on an interim basis to cover maternity leave. The role was technical and stimulating, but not full-time, the client only needed 2.5 days’ input. There were a lot of positives on offer with one major challenge: the office was located in the West Country.
Working together on a remote-working solution
CJ. Talent (under our previous name of Capability Jane) received high levels of interest in the role, and the client was very impressed with the calibre of candidates who were sourced. However, as expected, the location was somewhat of a hurdle for many. It was clear that an element of remote working needed to be considered as part of the package.
But one candidate – who was really attracted by the strength of the brand – was prepared to take on the challenge of the travel for two days per week while working the additional half day from home. It was a good solution. The terms were discussed, negotiated and confirmed, and our candidate became the retailer’s part time, remote working lawyer without further ado.
Despite coming to Capability Jane with an acute awareness of the potential difficulties the location afforded, the client was delighted with the quality and choice of candidates presented, and pleased to be able to cover their interim position so well. For our part, we were delighted that the client was able to consider flexibility in terms of location, and as a result secure the services of a highly skilled and experienced part time and remote working lawyer.
