Caroline has been part of the CJ. Talent (formerly Capability Jane) team for 12 years and Managing Director for the past 6 years; she joined the team in 2012 after spending much of her career in the aviation industry working with everything from start-up airlines to established mainline carriers.
Whilst Caroline has contributed hugely to the growing success of CJ. Talent, she admits that when she started her career journey, she had no clear path or vocation that she wished to pursue. Her first position was a Saturday job for Habitat. When she finished her A-levels she decided not to go to university preferring to enter the world of work and whilst she might not have had her sights set on a certain goal she found working and managing people was a recurring theme in the roles she took, frequently managing people, dealing with people issues and also their development.
Wanting to make more of these natural talents Caroline decided to return to education in her early 30’s when she did a post graduate diploma in Human Resources Development part-time. She completed this by attending college every Wednesday afternoon for three years, an achievement of which she is rightly very proud.
Some of Caroline’s greatest professional achievements before joining CJ. Talent include working with Caledonian Airways where she successfully headed up that company’s volume recruitment strategy. Joining HRi a niche recruiter in 2000 where she provided HR talent at senior management and director level across all sectors before moving in 2003 to a business development role. In 2009 Caroline set up and successfully ran an HR consultancy offering generalist advice to SMEs before bringing her wealth of experience and talent to CJ. Talent.
When asked what advice she would give to those wishing to progress their careers she says “Find your niche, play to your strengths and skills, keep up with changes within your chosen profession if you are away from the workplace for a while. Always try to go for a role if it looks right for you – think big – and find a company with a culture and values which are aligned to your own.”
As well as having a successful career Caroline is passionate about gardening, has two stepdaughters a 19 year-old son and a Jack Russell!
