An independent Government funded public body is looking for a Governance Advisor on a 15-month contract to advise the senior board and help them deliver on emerging corporate governance and reform. The organisation is about to go through a change programme in 2023 and the successful candidate will provide executive support across a range of activities.

Specifics of the role include:

  • Providing guidance and supporting the team regarding information risk and data protection issues
  • Triaging FOIA and DPA applications
  • Monitoring compliance across the range of GDPR-UK requirements
  • Carrying out governance reviews and making recommendations
  • Working with the Chief Executive and board to ensure strategic risks and opportunities are updated as necessary
  • Taking ownership of, planning and delivering board level meetings comprising planning and prioritising high volumes of work with conflicting deadlines
  • Ensuring the effective delivery of strategy groups
  • Contributing to and helping to organise networking events including collaborating with colleagues to develop content
  • Liaising with key stakeholders as necessary
  • Deputising for the head of board and governance as required

About you:
  • Working effectively as part of a small team by collaborating with others and contributing towards team goals
  • Demonstrated experience of working in a comparable governance/compliance role
  • Effective writing skills
  • Competent use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience of servicing board level meetings (desirable)
  • Knowledge of/interest in Data Protection and UK-GDPR (desirable)
  • Knowledge of/interest in the transport industry (desirable)

The role can be mainly carried out from home, but this person could work 1 day each week in either London or Manchester. Attendance will also be required at all day team meetings every two months in the London office.

Quality Assurance Manager - hybrid, 3 days per week, 1 in office
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 FTE
Location: Surrey
