An independent Government funded public body is looking for a Governance Advisor on a 15-month contract to advise the senior board and help them deliver on emerging corporate governance and reform. The organisation is about to go through a change programme in 2023 and the successful candidate will provide executive support across a range of activities.
Specifics of the role include:
- Providing guidance and supporting the team regarding information risk and data protection issues
- Triaging FOIA and DPA applications
- Monitoring compliance across the range of GDPR-UK requirements
- Carrying out governance reviews and making recommendations
- Working with the Chief Executive and board to ensure strategic risks and opportunities are updated as necessary
- Taking ownership of, planning and delivering board level meetings comprising planning and prioritising high volumes of work with conflicting deadlines
- Ensuring the effective delivery of strategy groups
- Contributing to and helping to organise networking events including collaborating with colleagues to develop content
- Liaising with key stakeholders as necessary
- Deputising for the head of board and governance as required
About you:
- Working effectively as part of a small team by collaborating with others and contributing towards team goals
- Demonstrated experience of working in a comparable governance/compliance role
- Effective writing skills
- Competent use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Experience of servicing board level meetings (desirable)
- Knowledge of/interest in Data Protection and UK-GDPR (desirable)
- Knowledge of/interest in the transport industry (desirable)
The role can be mainly carried out from home, but this person could work 1 day each week in either London or Manchester. Attendance will also be required at all day team meetings every two months in the London office.
Flexibility: 3 days per week, home and London or Manchester
Location: Home and London/Manchester
Pay: £45,000 – £50,000 FTE
